Tattoo Removal Price Index 2026
How much does laser tattoo removal cost in 2026?
Across 5,398 listed clinics in five English-speaking countries, the median advertised starting price for laser tattoo removal is around $200 per session (as of June 2026). But price is the wrong question: within a single city, listed starting prices span more than 20-fold, and 61% of clinics don't list a price at all (n=5,398).
Median listed price by country
Figures are the median advertised starting price among clinics that list a price, by country, as of June 2026. They note what clinics publish — not what a full course of treatment costs, which depends on tattoo size, ink colour, and number of sessions.
| Country | Clinics listed | Clinics that list a price | Median listed starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Australia | 933 | 41% | $200 AUD |
| United States | 2,180 | 38% | $250 USD |
| United Kingdom | 880 | 44% | £90 GBP |
| Canada | 760 | 36% | $180 CAD |
| New Zealand | 150 | 43% | $190 NZD |
The same-city price spread is the real story
Within a single city, the gap between the cheapest and most expensive listed starting price is enormous. This is the figure that holds up regardless of how many clinics list a price, because it compares listed prices to listed prices in the same market.
| City | Lowest listed | Highest listed | Spread |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brisbane | $50 | $1,000 | 20.0x |
| Los Angeles | $75 | $1,200 | 16.0x |
| Sydney | $60 | $900 | 15.0x |
| London | £25 | £310 | 12.4x |
Most clinics don't list a price at all
Across all five countries, 61% of listed clinics do not publish a starting price (n=5,398). We note this as price opacity: it does not mean these clinics are more expensive — only that a prospective patient cannot compare them on price without making contact.

Methodology
This index aggregates the advertised starting prices recorded for clinics listed in the Tattoo Removal Guide directory across Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand, as of June 2026 (n=5,398). "Listed price" means a starting per-session price the clinic publishes on its own website or Google Business Profile; we do not estimate, infer, or negotiate prices. Medians are computed only over clinics that list a price. Same-city spread is the ratio of the highest to the lowest listed starting price among clinics in that city. Currency is shown as listed; figures are not currency-converted. Aggregates are recomputed from frozen monthly snapshots so each published figure is stable and dated.
Limitations
These figures describe what clinics list, not what treatment ultimately costs. A starting price is not a course price. Clinics that do not list a price are excluded from the medians, which may bias the median toward more price-transparent clinics. Listings are compiled from public data and vary in freshness. We publish aggregates only and never name an individual clinic as cheapest or most expensive. This is directory data, not a clinical or financial recommendation.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the median cost of laser tattoo removal in 2026?
- Across 5,398 listed clinics in five English-speaking countries, the median advertised starting price is around $200 per session as of June 2026. Starting price is per session; a full course of treatment costs more and varies by tattoo size, ink colour, and number of sessions.
- Why do tattoo removal prices vary so much within one city?
- Within a single city, listed starting prices span more than 20-fold (for example, Brisbane ranges from about $50 to $1,000 per session as of June 2026). Differences reflect tattoo size pricing models, laser technology, practitioner qualifications, and per-session versus package pricing.
